Hello Friends,
Family and Business Associates,
Happy 2010
everyone! I hope this year brings you great health and happiness.
With a new year
comes new goals and a renewed sense of purpose for giving back to our
communities. Some of you might recall that in the past I have volunteered my
time with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the YMCA. This year I have shifted my
focus to The First Tee of Portland (www.thefirstteeportland.org):
Why the First
Tee of Portland?
-Golf is
expensive! I never had a chance to play it growing up and it is such an awesome
sport. I believe that anyone who has a passion or desire for the game should be
given the opportunity to play.
-Golf teaches
excellent life skills such as honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, and
perseverance; these ideas are core values for the foundational principles of the
First Tee of Portland.
-I know I can
make a difference and am excited about combining my passions – golf and helping
others!
My personal
fundraising effort this year revolves around the Los Angeles Marathon, taking
place March 21, 2010. The course will take us from Dodger Stadium, through
Hollywood, West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills. We will eventually finish at the
Santa Monica Pier – 26.2 miles later!
Why the Los
Angeles Marathon?
-Because I have
been a sprinter my entire life and running a marathon will be one of the biggest
mental challenges I have ever encountered.
-Because I
really needed a “stretch” goal to encourage you to help me raise funds for the
First Tee of Portland!
How Can You
Help?
-In researching
charities for the marathon, I found most of them were Los Angeles based and I
want to support Portland! It costs roughly $300 to send each participant
through The First Tee program.
-I will run the
marathon on behalf of The First Tee of Portland and am asking for your donation
to support me in this endeavor.
-Will you
sponsor me with a cash/check donation in a dollar amount that is in alignment
with your comfort level? Every little bit, whether it’s $5 or $500 will
help.
-If I qualify
for the Boston Marathon (3 hours and 45 minutes or less), you agree to double
your donation amount. I think that will be a stretch for me, but it’s worth
throwing it out there!
Warmest regards
and I thank you in advance for your consideration and continued
support!
